Called UpCardboard

Two collectors, one table

Called Up Cardboard is Lucas and James, two friends who would rather talk prospects, rookies and draft picks than do almost anything else.

James has loved cards for about as long as he’s been alive. He grew up sorting them on the floor, and then spent five years behind the counter of a card shop in Chicago, Illinois. That is where he picked up the things a price guide can’t teach you: how to look over a card’s corners and surface in a few seconds, which parallels people actually chase, and how to tell a first-time collector what they’re holding without making them feel new. When you ask a question in chat, he’s usually the one with the answer.

Lucas is the one who turned a shared hobby into a real shop: the schedule, the case, the packing table and the site you’re reading now. He answers the messages himself, and he cares more about you coming back next Tuesday than about squeezing an extra dollar out of tonight.

The name comes from the best moment in the hobby, the day a kid you’ve been holding cards of finally gets called up. We want to be the shop you’d send a friend to. Every card in the case is one we own, every slab checks out by cert, and instead of telling you what a card is “worth” we show recent comps and let the bidding decide. Nobody gets rushed in chat.
